How can I, a person who is for the better part, poor, obtain the finances needed for a large court case?
I am currently seeking an Attorney to represent a possible medical malpractice case. Unfortunately - the Attorney's are asking for boo-koo bucks, which I do not have. How can I, a person who is poor (compared to the money they are asking), obtain an Attorney then? Legal-Aid won't help ... they do not take medical malpractice cases. The Attorney's will not go 'pro-bono' (the case is too large). So - I thought I'd toss this out to all of you. Maybe you could help. There has got to be a way for me to afford the high cost of 'Expert Witnesses', 'Court Reporter', 'Court Fees' and the like. The Attorney's are willing to work on a contingency bases, however the fee's mentioned above must be paid by me. The average cost for an expert witness is $5,000 dollars per day. Any answers?

- You can't. The system sucks - sorry to break it to you. If the lawyers do not want to take your case, it probably is because you're case is not very big or probably won't win. Many times lawyers will pay for the expenses of the plaintiff as long as they think your case will win.
- I would check the ads in your area for attorneys who specialize in medical malpractice cases. If you live in a small town, check the nearest big city, or you can call the local bar association for a referral. If the attorney thinks your case has merit, they will often cover all of the expenses in anticipation of getting paid when you win your case. You should be aware that they will often take a large portion of any settlement. Good luck!
- As Metsfan said, basically. If you had a good case, you'd have no trouble getting a lawyer. Lawyers don't want to tell you that your case sucks, so they tell you they need so much money up front, you walk away. I know, because I am a lawyer, and it's what I do, or I just tell them it's a kind of case we don't handle.
- Call ur state attourney general office but some states are hard as far as malprctice!!!!
