1. Go to http://www.lawyers.com and use the "Find a Lawyer" feature. Note... this is simply a searchable listing of the law directory arranged by speciality and location. There is no screening or other quality control check of the quality of the lawyer - the best lawyer in the State gets a listing identical to that of the worst. You should then check with the CA Bar as to whether any lawyer you consider has any outstanding discipline issues, and you can also ask him for the phone numbers of some prior clients to ask if they were satisfied with his services Remember that such a list is going to be 'self-edited' though - he'll not give you the numbers of clients that he pissed off :-) Richard
