Medical Malpractice Attorneys and Lawyers

What is the statue of limitation in Indiana for medical bills which have been by an collection attorney firm?

I had a hospital bill that has been turn over to a collection attorney firm. I have been paying them for years. The interest is now more then the orginal bill. Is there a statue of limitation in Indiana for hospital bills being collected through an attorney? What would happen if I stop paying them? I need help, because of the interest rate, the bill keeps growing. Is there anything I can do?

  1. trouble with sol they start over once bill changes hands -- other wise it would be seven years --- if you stop paying they will just go to court and put lien or wages -- only way to get out is to get a part time job and throw all of the money at the bill!!!
  2. Talk to the collection agency. They may take less than 100% if they are assured to get paid something. Depending on the statute of limitations and bankruptcy are typically bad strategies. Working with those who you owe money can work out better.
