What is a statue of limitation on a malpractice lawsuit ? at a medical hopsital?

How long does a patient have to contact an attorney and bring a malpractice suit to court? Something happened about a year ago at a hospital (June of 2007 and it is 2008 now)

1. the sooner the better. I can remember now but some states is 3 years some are longer. And i think that time starts after the final treatment. Not when treatment starts.
2. Statutes of Limitations are a matter for State law, and you didn't tell us where you are. BUT..... one year is almost certainly still OK. Richard
3. every state has different laws; 1. is it an adult or minor 2. what was the situation 3. when did the situation become known the list goes on see a local attorney where the hospital is located because that is where the lawsuit would be filed.
