- No, it is not illegal. You can charge attorney's for copies of the medical record. Some offices even charge the patient for a complete copy of the medical record if it is more than 20 or 25 pages, but you can charge a third party a fee even if the record only consists of 2 or 3 pages.
- no, any request for records can be expected to come with a fee, check your local laws for exceptions.
- Any time you perform a service, you can charge for it. Does your copy machine have overhead? Do your secretaries? How 'bout other staff? The going rate is twenty-five cents a copy plus an hourly time rate added on. I do it all the time.
- no it's not. I work at a dr.'s office too ;] and i always charge the attorney's for it. You have the right to do that.
